UCF women’s soccer was ranked No. 15 by Soccer America last month. UCF is one of only two Conference USA teams ranked along with No. 12 Memphis.

The UCF Volleyball team was honored twice by Conference USA as senior Rachel Vukson and sophomore Angelica Crump were named Setter and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the league offices last month for their stellar performances in the FGCU Homewood Suites Invitational last weekend.

After starting the season undefeated, the UCF men’s soccer team is ranked No. 12 by Soccer America. The Knights are the only Conference USA team honored and this is the highest ranking the program has seen since joining the league.

UCF volleyball senior setter Rachel Vukson was named Division I National Player of the Week by Sports Imports/AVCA and CVU.com after being named Conference USA Setter of the Week last month. This honor marks the second time an athlete from UCF has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week award, the last being Tyra Harper the week of Nov. 17, 1997.

Senior goalkeeper Aline Reis was named a candidate for the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. The Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School and focuses on the student-athlete as a whole. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence; classroom, community, character and competition.

After finishing the 2010 season 12-5-3 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, the UCF’s men’s soccer team begins the regular season ranked No. 19 in Soccer America’s preseason poll.

In the women’s soccer regular season opening weekend, UCF forward Tishia Jewell was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week and selected to the TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Women’s College Soccer Team of the Week.

UCF women’s soccer player Andrea Rodrigues was called to play overseas with the Portuguese National Team and compete in friendly matches against Turkey on Aug. 23 and 25. Earlier this season, Rodrigues was voted to the 2011 All-Sunshine Conference Team and the All-Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Third Team after spending the summer playing for the Tampa Bay Hellenic. Tampa Bay won the league with a 10-2-1 record but fell to Chicago, 2-1, in the WPSL National Semifinals.
