I would love to hear more stories from readers on your successes and challenges. What are your pet peeves about job searching? Is it online applications, unprofessional interviewers, not hearing back? Please send your stories to me and you may see them published!
One of the biggest issues out there right now is the disconnect between skills and jobs. Some employers seem to be looking for the president on a county commissioner’s salary. Expectations are high because there is the impression that there are more people in the market, and more choices for employers when choosing an employee.
If that is the case, why are jobs not being filled? Do you really need an MBA to work at a relatively entry-level rate? If you have an MBA does that mean you should not be considered for a position because you are overqualified?
I would love to hear from both employers and job seekers about their experiences with hiring and looking for jobs. I recently spoke to an employer who is having to look outside of Central Florida for the skills he needs for his positions. I wonder why that is.
I have many answers on the processes of job search, resumes, online applications, social media and interviewing, but I would love to hear more about your challenges and successes.
Thank you!
