Joshua Jones of East River High School signed a letter of intent to attend and play volleyball at Division 2 Lees-Mcrae College in Banner Elk, N.C.
Pioneer Athletics selected Timber Creek High School as winner of the 2010 Fields of Excellence Award. The award honors outstanding athletic fields and the hardworking field crews who diligently maintain them. Timber Creek was chosen after high schools, universities and colleges nationwide applied.
UCF Senior Tawny Swan was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week in early May after batting .750 with six hits, a triple, five RBI and one run scored last weekend to help lead the UCF softball team to its second league-series sweep of the season vs. Southern Miss.
Conference USA officials recently announced that senior Abby McClain and junior Natalie Land of the UCF softball team were honored as repeat selections to the 11-member Conference USA All-Academic Team.

UCF sophomore D.J. Hicks has been named by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association as one of 36 national semifinalists for the 2011 Dick Howser Trophy, which is given to the top player in collegiate baseball.
