East River High School’s Wilfredo "Will" Rodriguez was recently recognized as a member of the East Metro Conference's "All Metro" boys basketball team.
Head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie tallied career-win No. 600 as the UCF softball team used a four-run sixth inning, which included a two-RBI single by junior Kellie Todd, to defeat Florida A&M, 5-1, Saturday night in its final game of the UCF/Courtyard by Marriott Invitational III.
UCF men’s basketball team members Marcus Jordan and Keith Clanton received All-Conference USA honors as they led UCF to one of the most memorable seasons in school history. Jordan was selected to the All-C-USA Second Team, while Clanton earned all-league third team honors.
The UCF women’s golf team concluded play at the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon, finishing in ninth place with a total score of 922 (+58). No. 25 Notre Dame led the tournament from start to finish turning in a 297 on the final 18 holes giving the Fighting Irish a total score of 888 (+24).
The UCF women’s tennis team announced that it has been chosen to participate in one of the U.S. Tennis Association Campus Kids’ Days this year. Freshman Kaitlyn Price recorded her first career Top 10 finish to lead the UCF women’s golf team at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Golf Invitational recently at the University of Florida’s par-70 6,002-yard Mark Bostic Golf Course.
With its baseball team breaking into the top-25, UCF has become one of just 10 schools in the country that have experienced a top-25 ranking in football, men’s basketball and baseball during the 2010-11 season. The Knights are the only BCS non-automatically qualifying football school in that group that can boast a ranking in all three sports.
