UCF football earned preseason honors by the College Football Performance Awards. Senior Darius Nall was selected to the 2011 Defensive Lineman Trophy Watch List, while junior cornerback Josh Robinson was placed on the Defensive Back Trophy Watch List.

Team Florida Orlando, an Olympic-style competitive weightlifting, strength and conditioning program based in Avalon Park, competed in the USA Weightlifting School Age National Championship in Flowery Branch, Georgia in June and returned national champions. The female team placed first overall, there was one individual national champion and one national champion runner up. One lifter in the 13-year-old and under team took second place and a 16-17-year-old team took second place.

Following a sensational freshman season, UCF quarterback Jeff Godfrey was one of only 38 student-athletes who were selected to the 2011 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List. Godfrey served as one of just eight sophomores in the entire country on the Watch List.

Two Timber Creek alumni shine in volleyball: Freshman Jade Vorster, a 6’4” middle hitter, will join a University of Hawaii Wahine team that went 16-0 in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and won its 15th WAC championship under Coach Dave Shoji. Jessica Yingling, a junior at the University of Tampa, led the Wolves to the 2008 state title and now had 10 kills in the national semifinal against Central Missouri in the NCAA Division II tournament. The win moved Tampa to the championship game where they fell to Concordia, St. Paul.
