Madison Hettrich, 7, of Avalon Park, wrote the winning letter in the second annual Letters to Santa Contest. The contest, created through a partnership between the East Orlando Sun, the Kiwanis Club of Avalon Park and Downtown Avalon Park, promotes literacy by asking local children to write letters to Santa Claus.
She received gift certificates from Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly, Avalon All Star Cuts and Marco’s Pizza, a free kids yoga mat from Yoga East, a special prize package from Avalon Park Group and two signed copies of “Catching Santa,” a book by local author Marc Franco. Madison also got to ride with Santa in the Avalon Aglow parade.
All contestants received Marco’s Pizza gift certificates and a letter back from Santa.
