Timber Creek senior Justin Mandell took home third at a state bowling competition helpd at Boardwalk Bowl in East Orlando.
For the second consecutive season UCF women’s golfer Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) was named to the All-Conference USA third team, a group selected by the league’s coaches.
East River girls softball made school history in becoming the first District champions. Brooke Myers pitching a four-hitter, Xiomara Perez leading in hits and Emily Hughes hammering a two-run homer all helped East River (20-8) win the 6A-4 district softball title with a 6-1 win over Timber Creek (21-6). East River hosted the Regional Quarter Final at press time, April 27, against Hagerty High School.
Xiomara Perez became the first East River High student-athlete to sign a scholarship to a Division I university or college. Xiomara will be attending Mississippi Valley State University in the fall. She will also be playing softball for the Devilettes.
Veterans and members of the military get free admission to the UCF baseball game at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30 against Houston. Members of the Wounded Warrior Project, SSG William Castillo and SGT Noé Santos Diloné, will be throwing out the first pitch.

UCF placed 219 students athletes on Academic Honor Roll during the 2010-11 Conference USA. For the fifth-straight year, UCF leads all C-USA public institutions in academic honor roll recipients. Student athletes named to the honor roll must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
