AMWAY CENTER OPENS

On Friday, Oct. 1, the new Amway Center will open its doors to the community for a ribbon cutting and State of Downtown Address by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. On Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be a free community open house with self-guided tours, entertainment and local performances, free popcorn and soda and commemorative items. Representatives from the Orlando Magic and Orlando Predators will be present. For more information, visit amwaycenter.com.

WOMEN'S GOLF COMPETE IN COUGAR CLASSIC

Sophomore Carolin Pinegger and freshman Kaitlyn Price each shot a 73 to lead the UCF women's golf team in the final round of the Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at Yeamans Hall in Hanahan, S.C. The Knights shot a 303 on the day as a team, slipping into a tie with Maryland for 11th place in the final standings for the 21-team event.

MAGIC VS. HORNETS

The Orlando Magic will break in the Amway center on Sunday, Oct. 10, by playing a pre-season game vs. the New Orleans Hornets. Tickets are on sale at amwaycenter.com.
