TCHS rolls; district action returns

Timber Creek followed up a district win over Edgewater with an easy win over Cypress Creek last week, 35-0. Rahfee McClee scored twice on just eight carries for 57 yards and Tyler Marincov also reached the end zone on a long touchdown run in the victory.

Leroy Richards added a touchdown on an interception return and also broke up two passes, recorded four tackles and a sack. Matt Jones blocked a punt that led to a Greg Caruana touchdown, knocked down two passes, and made a tackle for a loss. Caleb Hartfield combined for 108 yards on special teams, in part by returning a punt 50 yards, while Andrew Davis recorded a sack, two tackles, a pass defense and caught a pass for 33 yards.

Juan Pantajas recovered a fumble and had four tackles, as did Jacob Wainwright. The Wolves (4-2, 2-0) begin a stretch of three straight District 3 games this Friday at Evans (4-3, 1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Homecoming night didn’t turn out well for Colonial last week as Oak Ridge paid a visit and came away with a 13-0 victory.

The Grenadiers accumulated just 116 yards of total offense, with Omar Diaz accounting for 62 yards on the ground on 15 carries in the loss. Steve Sanders carried the ball 14 times for 37 yards. CHS (3-3, 1-1) returns to District 3 action on Friday as they host Edgewater (2-4, 1-1), an opponent they’ve lost to by an average of 21 points per game over the last three years. University High School is hosting its homecoming game this Friday against Winter Park (2-4, 1-1), one week after a 40-7 loss to Boone.

The Cougars (1-5, 0-2) got 11 tackles from Matt Dawson to lead the defense as Caleb Louis recorded a sack and scooped up a fumble for a 15-yard touchdown. Guillermo Diaz and Alvin Edmond (six tackles) each forced a fumble.Alejandro Carrera was in on nine tackles, one for a loss, and Eugene Scott was in on eight tackles. Orlando Lutheran Academy had no trouble dismantling Masters Academy last week as they won easily, 42-0. OLA dominated all phases of the game by accumulating 252 yards on the ground on 23 carries.

Anthony Bruder ran for three touchdowns and Isaiah Bolden picked off a pass and also scored on a touchdown run. Eric McRae and Dane Hurt each accounted for OLA touchdowns. Defensively, Ron Britzius led the way with 10 tackles and a forced fumble, while Matt Britzius had 9 tackles and Cody Sharp a sack in the win.
